Chicago’s public transit system is suffering from an increased amount of violent attacks, with the number of felony assaults and batteries reaching a record high.
CTA leaders focused on boosting police presence on buses and trains, but the Federal Transit Administration is not satisfied with this attempt. If the CTA does not implement a safety plan up to federal standards by mid-March, President Trump could cut funding at a time when it may be needed the most.
