For many years, I made a conscious decision to work directly with young people and help empower the next generation. Instead of going back and forth with our own people, I believe we should focus our energy on supporting, mentoring, and uplifting our youth.
My commitment to this work has been shaped by years of service and community involvement, including volunteering at Cook County Jail. These experiences have reinforced my belief that meaningful change begins when we invest in people, especially young people, and give them the guidance, opportunities, and support they need to build a better future.
Empowering youth means giving them a voice, helping them recognize their potential, and creating positive pathways that can lead them away from violence and toward purpose.
This work is about more than words. It is about showing up, serving the community, and helping young people understand that their future can be different—and that they have the power to shape it.
